| Kasper wasn't born an orphan as his personnel file states, his beginnings far more dark and harrowing than a vast majority of his friends or colleagues are aware of. If you listen really closely you might be able to hear an eastern European tint to his accent, a subtle pronunciation or two that don't sound completely English. Born in Poland to a large but poverty-stricken family, Kasper was one of the youngest of eight siblings. His early life was defined by the ache of hunger and the weakness that followed a severe bout of whooping cough or one of the other diseases that children from his generation shouldn't contract. When he was barely into his teens his father, a man unable to support his large family, struck a deal with a gang running a human trafficking ring in the UK. Stolen from the rest of his family to work in the ganglands of London, Kasper was sold on as a test subject for the kind of genetic modification prohibited by the new laws regarding magic. He was lucky to escape with no lasting damage, his opportunity coming when a change in guard at the facility he was being kept at provided a gap for him to slip through. It turned out that the facility was raided fifteen minutes later by the police, law enforcement swarming the area and sealing off anybody in pursuit. Finding himself alone, weak and with the kind of magical skills that need training to be controlled, someone seemed to be watching out for Kasper when he chose a very specific doorway to collapse into. He was found by Archie, a man who has become something of an older brother figure to him and looking out for him with more care than his own biological older brothers. It's thanks to these magical talents that Kasper first comes to the attention of the police, the company he keeps ensuring that he is noticed when he doesn't want to be, but it's encouragement from Archie that convinces him that this could be a way out of the life the two of them, among so many others, are stuck in. His senses have been sharpened to an unnatural level and he shows them off as he beats the police to the suspect they're hunting down and then turns himself over. It's almost a year before Kasper makes it back out onto the streets again, but this time it's as a rookie officer, riding in the back of the car of PC. Morgan Thomas and PC. Daniel Reed. Basic training and background information already put in place to take care of his past, it's Kasper's choice whether he wants to join the squad of dog officers.
